Haunting Halloween-BOO

Going in for the Kill!!!!! Oh, it's my friend Mason

Grandma's silly hat

October 29th!! First snow of the season...just a bit early this year. However, off we go to Seattle to celebrate Halloween with the kids. Danielle's interview is also scheduled for this time and it was so nice to have Danielle join in on the Halloween celebrations. Dionne had many plans for us all. We also had time to visit with our good friends, the Smiths who had invited mutual friends whom we hadn't seen in years since they became California snowbirds and we became "recluses in Booniville!" As always Barb put on a wonderful spread. A seafood fondue was most welcome as we don't get much of that around Booniville! Amya was at a great age this year for Halloween. We went with Dionne and friends downtown Renton as the merchants had opened their stores for "Trick or Treaters!" It was totally geared for little kids and I think Amya had a good time with her "treat" bag. We then went to the Tomlinsons who have a huge tractor that pulled an open trailer all decked out for the holiday. We "hayed" around their neighborhood. For us, this was hopefully, our "First Annual Tomlinson Halloween Hay Ride!" It was great fun and quite amazing to see how people in the neighborhood had decorated their houses. The kids loved it. After that we went to Lisa and John who had a Halloween party. There is never anything better than a party at the "Walls Resort and Spa". It was just great fun to be with the family and friends for this, my favorite holiday. Danielle had a very successful interview, was offered the position and accepted it. She is now a Treatment Coordinator in an orthodontic office. We all agreed that a party at the Walls was a perfect way to celebrate her accomplishment!! She will find a place to live and move home with all three of my grand dogs in early November. Well done Danielle and yippee to me, having my children all in one state. I would say this was a memorable Halloween.

A visit from fall friends, cute little deer...not much left to eat at this time of year

In October of 2009, Danielle came for a visit, with my one grand dog, Tink. Seemed as if her relationship with Chad was over. What better place for R&R and quiet times to get a different perspective on things? We took hikes, sat around and talked and Danielle got some well needed rest. She has become the most amazing cook. In fact cooking is her passion. We didn't complain one bit and enjoyed each and every meal she made. I was happy to do the dishes!! We invited our friends Don and Marge over so they too, could enjoy the fruits of her labor. We had a very fun evening. Danielle decided to check out the job market in Washington and lo and behold, we returned from a hike one day and there was a message from an Orthodontic office in Seattle. She called them back and an interview was arranged. Our plans were to visit the kids for Halloween so we just left a day earlier than planned in order for Danielle to attend her interview and for all of us to partake in the festivities of Halloween, my favorite American holiday.

Dinner in Republic after all the "love and peace!"

The coldest Barter Faire yet, had to buy a hat and gloves

Early freeze and first outdoor pipe burst in five years!

Apples before the freeze

October is my favorite month here in North Central Washington. The true colors of fall as the leaves change, the last of the apple harvest and our favorite "Annual Barter Faire!" This year Susan and her sister Diane came to visit and the three of us attended. It is always so fun to take a step back in time. Peace and love abounds....I didn't take anything to barter this year like I usually do, so walking around empty handed except for what I purchased, was really a pleasure. One of these years I will probably try to get a booth and sell stuff, probably before we sell this house and return to Seattle?? An unusual cold snap hit this past year and we had our first freeze around the 12th, the day of Barter Faire. We woke up to water spurting out of an outdoor tap, had to call Rock to return from fishing so he could turn the water off. Who knew??!! We lost the last of the apples but by this time of year, we are over-harvested!!

Road Trip to Jerome and Sedona

Love Adobe architecture

I know I am so cute

We know we are so cute too!

My 3 Grand Dogs

Well, our road trip to Sedona. What can I say. It was just absolutely wonderful for me as I had been dreaming of a road trip with my two daughters and of course, my Grandaughter was a bonus!! We really had fun. Craziness as well. Fortunately Sedona is only a couple of hours or so from where Danielle was living. We stayed at a Hilton Resort. Beautiful swimming pools, restaurants and everything we needed right there. Sedona is this quaint town surrounded by red rock mountains and Adobe style buildings. Beautiful scenery with mountains all around, no matter where you look. We shopped, spent time at the pools and restaurants, went out to dinners, and treated ourselves to a Hummer Jeep Tour. It was really wonderful to be driven by a tour guide all over these mountains and to understand how they became these beautiful red rock mountains. Amya was so great on this tour. She did fall asleep after a while, which was perfect as I stayed in the jeep with her while the girls and the guide went for a hike, a little higher than I wanted to hike!! On the way home, we stopped for a couple of hours in this very small town (known as a ghost town), called Jerome. Then back to Phoenix we went. We were so happy with how well Amya did on this side trip. She is just an amazing little girl. It was hard to keep her in her stroller for too much shopping, but even at that, she did great and we all had a wonderful time.

Red, red, red

Rocks, rocks, rocks

OK, you can hike higher now.

Sunset over Sedona!

Sunny day in Sedona!

Let's go jeeping.

I want to swim alone Grandma

They're shopping again!

"Go Sheehawks!" Cheers Aunty Danyelle!

Old town Jerome

I think I will talk to "TUBBA!" My cousin can keep me entertained while we drive and drive and drive!

Old jail in Jerome
OK, so Amya loves to dance and loves to do rollovers and loves to jump
Dionne, as of 2010 has her in gymnastics and swimming. She is really good at both of these activities. She has a new thing now...she walks around all day singing away (must be like her Papa Rock)! I imagine, soon I will have her in singing lessons. Watch out, I am sure there will be a video of her singing, if there hasn't already been one!!
