Shopping for supplies for the cook and yes, we got it all in, ta da....

A visit from fall friends, cute little deer...not much left to eat at this time of year

In October of 2009, Danielle came for a visit, with my one grand dog, Tink. Seemed as if her relationship with Chad was over. What better place for R&R and quiet times to get a different perspective on things? We took hikes, sat around and talked and Danielle got some well needed rest. She has become the most amazing cook. In fact cooking is her passion. We didn't complain one bit and enjoyed each and every meal she made. I was happy to do the dishes!! We invited our friends Don and Marge over so they too, could enjoy the fruits of her labor. We had a very fun evening. Danielle decided to check out the job market in Washington and lo and behold, we returned from a hike one day and there was a message from an Orthodontic office in Seattle. She called them back and an interview was arranged. Our plans were to visit the kids for Halloween so we just left a day earlier than planned in order for Danielle to attend her interview and for all of us to partake in the festivities of Halloween, my favorite American holiday.

The coldest Barter Faire yet, had to buy a hat and gloves

Early freeze and first outdoor pipe burst in five years!

Apples before the freeze

October is my favorite month here in North Central Washington. The true colors of fall as the leaves change, the last of the apple harvest and our favorite "Annual Barter Faire!" This year Susan and her sister Diane came to visit and the three of us attended. It is always so fun to take a step back in time. Peace and love abounds....I didn't take anything to barter this year like I usually do, so walking around empty handed except for what I purchased, was really a pleasure. One of these years I will probably try to get a booth and sell stuff, probably before we sell this house and return to Seattle?? An unusual cold snap hit this past year and we had our first freeze around the 12th, the day of Barter Faire. We woke up to water spurting out of an outdoor tap, had to call Rock to return from fishing so he could turn the water off. Who knew??!! We lost the last of the apples but by this time of year, we are over-harvested!!
