Ending March on a Very Happy Note

On March 24, Dionne and Amya arrived late afternoon. They stayed for a day short of a week. We all had a wonderful visit. This was my highlight for March. We went out to breakfast at the senior center....(lol), then on to Keller School to buy books at their annual book fair. Amya loved this as she loves books. We played at the local park and watched her throw rocks into the water. It was a beautiful day. We had lots of good food, including our Passover dinner. Amya loved the matzoh and the chicken soup with matzoh balls. Papa babysat her all day Saturday while Dionne and I went shopping in Spokane. Dionne had not had an "unrushed" shop for quite a while. For me it was also an "unrushed" day as usually I am with Rock and it is a different kind of shopping we have to do. We had coffee and lunch out and generally had a very fun day. The weather wasn't that great but we managed to get outside to swing, feed the birds and gather pinecones. Dionne and I were able to get some scrapping done as well....well Dionne did 5 pages and I am still in the process of completing the two I started with her...We had a wonderful visit and I hope they come back soon.

Spring Snow!!

Went to Safeway today. Grand Coulee Dam. I love this antique store but I fear it has gone out of business. The joy of living in the middle of nowhere and having only small towns around, is that people are pretty trustworthy. I would have bought this screen door in a minute but nobody was home!! Glad I didn't need anything else at the "Mall!" Also glad we at least have a Safeway... the Internet Cafe was closed too!!!

OK, friends and family, we don't typically have Spring snow....Monday March 8, snowed, just a little bit, but it was gone before I could blog!! There was some snow all over the other side of the mountains, which is more unusual than getting Spring snow here, but it came and went. However, today March 11, it is SNOWING. With the temperatures up to the 50's tomorrow though, it will go away by the end of today, I hope. Global warming I tell you.

From starting to work in my flower beds in the sunshine and warm temperatures late February and March. What the heck?

A very "Springy" March

March has been wonderful weather. Bright, sunshine, warmth. Just like Spring. I have managed to get started on cleaning out flower beds, and have begun a really good walking routine with Debbie and if not Debbie, with Rock. I am up to three miles a day. It feels really good. We have just been hanging out, getting stuff done and generally enjoying being home and having time to do the things we need to, although it is really hard going almost a month before we see the kids. Dionne and Amya will come the 24th and stay for a week, so we are counting the days. I will go to Renton for Mother's Day weekend and will see Danielle and the grand dogs then. Rock has completed the laundry room and it looks wonderful. I have so much storage space now and you all, or should know, how much I depend on organization. We switched TV and satellite providers, which will hopefully be better services and a bit of a monthly savings. However, look at all the ugly poles and satellite's. The old pole will get a bird feeder on top of it and the one satellite on the house will be taken off by Rock. The 7th brought my big Oscar night. Being the movie buff I am, it is always something I so look forward to. This year was a really good production and I was somewhat happy with all the results. Debbie came over and we had a fun night. Rock loves to join in on the "female" gossip. Next day brought some Spring snow, but it came and went. The same thing happened in the Seattle area and we are all saying "that's global warming for you!" Not much more will be happening and I am sure I will be back after the visit by the kids.

Cutting Edge of Technology in BFE!
Did I really need another sattelite dish?

Well, maybe so! At least I could have an Oscar party...

And my friend Debbie came...

A Very Long Drive for Coffee

February 24, 2010...woke up to some snow falling. As this winter has been most unusual, I decided this was appropriate, just to add to this unusual winter. I knew it would be gone by the end of the day, with the warm temperatures we have been having, and it was. We decided that since we had a tax appointment in Republic, we would take a drive along the Kettle River Valley and try to find this "coffee roaster" I had heard about. Must not have noticed this business along the side of the road when Rock and I first started looking for property in this beautiful area? We looked for a house in Danville, about 5 miles from Grand Forks, BC. Well, yesterday, we found him. It was so nice to meet this guy Rich Scott, who has lived in this area for over 30 years. How he started his business was just because around here, if you want something good, you have to do or make it yourself!! The Kettle River Valley is as beautiful as the San Poil Valley and on a beautiful sunny day like yesterday, even though we drove over 100 miles round trip, it was well worth it. We also have a pound of good coffee. Our tax appointment went well as it is always nice to get money back from the Government. We then had an early dinner at the one and only Mexican restaurant in Republic. Rock and I are gone so much, mostly to the "Coast" to see our children and grandchild, that when we are home for a period of time, we mostly stay home and play catch up and do the things we like to do, so a day out, is always welcome. Northeast Washington is really a beautiful area.

The coffee roaster, found it!

Beautiful "downtown" Curlew...

Why complain, when I can get a latte on the way!

Snow day

January and February has been like this most of the time

February 16, 2010 Turning Two

Wait....I had to turn 40 to celebrate birthday weekend!! Amya only had to turn 2! Oh well, we all had a wonderful time. I think Amya did too. On her birthday, Tuesday, February 16, 2010....Dionne, Papa Rock, Amya and I went to this place in Preston where they have many "bouncy houses!" We could tell by how much fun Amya had there, that she is a "veteran" bouncer....after that Rock and I went over to Danielle to clean her apartment and let the dogs out, while Dionne, Brian and Amya opened her presents from Mommy and Daddy, then we all met up at swimming lessons. After that, the Grand Finale dinner at The Cheesecake Factory! I think Amya had a very fun two year birthday.

What is this now?

I guess I will have to blow these out?

Waiting patiently

Smile...

"Cheers!"

You have some Mommy

Hmmmm, this is not so bad after all~!

Now you're talking....

Cheers again

Present from Mommy and Daddy
